Sunday on the farm, it was Savannah’s turn to get rained out, but the other three teams were in action. Let’s take a look:
Las Vegas 6, Fresno 5
Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Zach Lutz hit back-to-back 2-out doubles in the bottom of the 9th to give the 51s the walk-off win. Eric Campbell was 2 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Allan Dykstra also doubled. Wilmer Flores was 1 for 4 with a walk and 2 strikeouts as the starting shortstop. Logan Verrett started and let up 3 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits over 6 innings, striking out 3 and walking none. Jeff Walters blew the save in the 9th but ended up getting the win.
Binghamton 5, Akron 4
Hansel Robles threw 5 shutout innings, allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8. Jack Leathersich struck out 4, but walked 2 and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Chasen Bradford gave up 2 runs in the 9th, but closed out the save. B-Mets pitchers struck out a total of 15 batters. Matt Clark was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI. Dustin Lawley was 3 for 4 with a double and RBI. Jayce Boyd also doubled and drove in a run. Kevin Plawecki was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored.
Palm Beach 1, St. Lucie 0
Domingo Tapia took the loss, but had a promising outing, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits over 5 innings, walking just 2 and striking out 3. Bret Mitchell and Randy Fontanez combined for 3 scoreless innings of relief. Phillip Evans was 2 for 3 with a double. Maikis De La Cruz also doubled, but the Lucies were quiet with the bats. Brandon Nimmo was 0 for 3 with a walk and 2 strikeouts.
