The stellar pitching on the farm continues.  Let’s take a look:


Las Vegas 10, El Paso 2


After giving up 2 runs in the first inning, Noah Syndergaard settled in and gave up 2 on 6 hits over 5 innings, walking 2 and striking out 5.  The bullpen combined for 4 scoreless innings.  Matt den Dekker led off the game with a homerun, going 3 for 5 with a double.  Josh Satin was 4 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Andrew Brown was 2 for 5 with a 3-run homer.  Zach Lutz was 2 for 4 with a triple.  Jeff Francoeur pitched the 9th inning of El Pas and gave up the homer to Brown.


Binghamton 8, New Hampshire 6


Matt Bowman had an odd night; he gave up a 6-spot in the 3rd inning, including a grand slam, but all were unearned, so he ended up pitching 6 innings with no earned runs, 4 hits, 3 walks, and an impressive 12 strikeouts.  Bowman struck out 11 in 7 innings when he faced New Hampshire earlier in the season, but he has just 9 in his 4 other starts combined.  The bullpen threw 3 shutout innings and Chase Bradford notched his 8th save of the season.  Kevin Plawecki was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI’s.  Brian Burgamy doubled and drove in 3 runs.  Kyle Johnson was 3 for 5.


St. Lucie 6, Lakeland 1


Luis Cessa allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 6 innings, walking none and striking out 3.  Gonzalez Germen threw a scoreless inning of relief.  Gilbert Gomez was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles.  Dilson Herrera was 2 for 4 with a double.  Cam Maron was 2 for 4 with a homer.  Jairo Perez also homered.  Brandon Nimmo was 1 for 4 with a triple.


Savannah 11, Greenville 3 (Game 1, 7 innings)


Miller Diaz threw 5 shutout innings, allowing just 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 8.  Gavin Cecchini was 1 for 2 with a double, 2 walks, and 3 runs scored.  Dominic Smith was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s.  Stefan Sabol had 3 RBI’s.  Jeff McNeil had 3 hits and 3 runs scored.  Matt Oberste and Colton Plaia both doubled and drove in a run.


Greenville 4, Savannah 1 (Game 2, 7 innings)


John Gant struck out 7 in 5 innings, but gave up 4 runs on 7 hit to take the loss, although his ERA remains under 3.  Akeel Morris struck out 2 and walked 1 in 2 shutout innings.  That’s now 22.2 innings this season for Morris, with 7 hits, 11 walks, no runs, and 36 Ks.  L.J. Mazzilli was 2 for 3 with a double and RBI.  Gavin Cecchini tripled and scored a run.  Dominic Smith was 0 for 3 and Champ Stuart made his season debut, going 0 for 3 with 2 strikeouts.
