It was St. Lucie’s turn to get rained out last night, which means both they and the B-Mets will have double headers on Saturday. Let’s see how the other three teams did on Friday night:
Tacoma 6, Las Vegas 4
Logan Verrett was real good for 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. But Joel Carreno walked the only 2 batters he faced, both of whom scored, and Zack Thornton gave up 3 more runs on 3 hits and 3 walks, recording just 1 out. Wilmer Flores was back in the lineup and back at shortstop, and he was 4 for 5 with 2 homers. Andrew Brown and Matt den Dekker had 2 hits each. Allan Dykstra doubled and drove in a run.
Binghamton 5, Portland 1
Greg Peavey allowed 1 run over 6 innings, striking out 4, and then Cody Satterwhite and Jon Velasquez combined for 3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Satterwhite has thrown 14.2 scoreless innings to start the season, although he’s walked 10 over that span. Kevin Plawecki was 2 for 4 with a double. Kyle Johnson was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.
Savannah 2, Rome 1
Miller Diaz allowed 1 unearned run over 6.1 innings, striking out 6 and walking none. Dawrin Frias struck out 3 in 1.2 shutout innings, and Robert Coles struck out 2 in a perfect 9th for his 4th save of the season. Gavin Cecchini was 3 for 4 with a triple; he has 10 hits, 3 for extra bases over the past 5 games. Dominic Smith was 0 for 2 with 2 walks.
