Last night on the farm, the losing continued for Vegas and Binghamton, but the A-ball teams continued to take steps toward a division title.


Fresno 6, Las Vegas 3


Dana Eveland allowed just 2 runs in 6 innings, but Jeff Walters gave up 3 runs and recorded just 1out, taking the loss.  Cesar Puello was 2 for 5 with a triple.  Josh Satin and Allan Dykstra also had 2 hits each.  Vegas hitters combined for 14 strikeouts.


Portland 6, Binghamton 5


Rainy Lara lasted just 3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits, walking 4 and striking ou5 3.  Jack Leathersich struck out 4 and walked 1 in 2 shutout innings.  But Cody Satterwhite gave up 2 runs in the 9th to blow the save and lose the game.  Matt Reynolds was 3 for 5 with a double.  Jayce Boyd was 2 for 4 with a double.  Dustin Lawley also had 2 hits.  Kevin Plawecki hit a 2-run homer.  The B-Mets have now lost 5 in a row.


St. Lucie 6, Clearwater 4


Alex Panteleodis made his season debut, going 6.1 innings and allowing 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 5.  Chase Huchingson also made his season debut, giving up 2 runs on 1 inning, striking out 2.  Beck Wheeler notched his 6th save of the season.  Brandon Nimmo, T.J. Rivera, and Jairo Perez all had 2 hits each.  Nimmo hit his 3rd homer of the season, eclipsing his total from last year.  Dilson Herrera was 1 for 3 with a double, walk, and 2 runs scored.  St. Lucie has won 4 in a row and has a 2.5 game lead in the Florida State League South Division.


Savannah 4, Lexington 0


Miller Diaz threw 6.1 shutout innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 8.  Akeel Morris struck out 3 and walked 1 in 1.2 shutout innings; if you’re counting at home, and I know you are, that’s 24.1 scoreless innings for Morris this year, allowing 7 hits and 12 walks, striking out 39.  L.J. Mazzilli was 2 for 4 with his 4th homer of the season.  Dominic Smith was 2 for 3 with a double, walk, and RBI.  Matt Oberste also had 2 hits.  Patrick Biondi was 1 for 4 with a double.  Gavin Cecchini was out of the starting lineup once again; he hasn’t played since Saturday.  The Gnats have a 5 game lead in the SAL Southern Division.
