Last night on the farm, Vegas continued its struggles while the other two teams in actions both pitched shutouts. Let’s have a look:
Sacramento 9, Las Vegas 5
Greg Peavey got knocked around for 6 runs in 4.1 innings. Zack Thornton also struggled, giving up 2 runs in 1 inning of work. Andrew Brown hit a 2-run homer and Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit a 3-run homer to prove all of the offense for the 51s, who have now lost 6 straight.
Binghamton 5, New Britain 0
Darin Gorski threw a gem, pitching a complete game 2 hitter, walking 1 and striking out 6. Kevin Plawecki was 2 for 4 with a double. Darrell Ceciliani and Wilfredo Tovar also doubled. Dustin Lawley hit a 2-run homer. Travis d’Arnaud was 0 for 4 as the DH; he’s expected to catch 9 innings today and then the Mets will consider activating him from the DL.
Savannah 2, Augusta 0 (ended after 7 plus innings due to rain)
Kevin McGowan gets credit for the complete game shutout, allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk over 7 innings, striking out 2. Jeff McNeil had 2 hits and scored both runs. L.J. Mazzilli tripled and drove in a run. Gavin Cecchini was 0 for 4. Dominic Smith was 1 for 3.
