What a disaster, all five teams in the organization took a loss last night.  Let’s try to find a silver lining.

 

El Paso 4, Las Vegas 3

 

Giancarlo Alvarado let up 3 runs over 5 innings.  Zack Thornton followed and allowed an unearned run despite striking out 2 and not allowing a hit.  Josh Satin was 3 for 5 with a triple.  Cesar Puello was 2 for 4 with a double.  Andrew Brown homered, while Danny Muno and Kirk Nieuwenhuis both doubled.

 

New Britain 4, Binghamton 0

 

Angel Cuan gave up 4 runs over 6 innings to take the loss, although Ryan Fraser threw 2 shutout innings in relief.  The B-Mets managed just 5 singles and struck out 14 times.

 

Brevard County 3, St. Lucie 1

 

Matt Koch suffered his first loss of the season, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 9 hits over 5.2 innings.  The Lucies had just 5 total hits, including doubles by Cole Frenzel and Maikis De La Cruz.  Brandon Nimmo did not play, and he’s expected to miss a couple more games due to conjunctivitis.

 

Rome 7, Savannah 6

 

Miller Diaz struck out 9 in 4.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits.  Tyler Vanderheiden gave up 3 runs in 2 innings of work, getting the blown save and the loss.  Gavin Cecchini, Jeff McNeil, L.J. Mazzilli, Dominic Smith, and Colton Plaia all had 2 hits each.  McNeil doubled and drove in 3 runs.  Stefan Sabol and Matt Oberste also doubled.
