Last night on the farm….Buffalo 4, Louisville 0Chris Schwinden continues to perform well at AAA with 6 shutout innings, giving up only 4 hits, and striking out 5. Justin Hampson and Manny Acosta combine for 3 shutout innings and 7 strikeouts. Ruben Tejada pushed his average to .301 with a 3-4 game, including a solo homer. Kirk Nieuwenhuis also had a solo homer as well as an RBI double. The rest of the team didn’t do much, but it was more than enough to get the win.New Hampshire 7, Binghamton 3Mark Cohoon has another good outing, but it’s spoiled by the bullpen. Cohoon gave up 2 runs in 6.2 innings, striking out 6. Eric Niesen gave up 2 runs and got the loss, his 3rd of the year, and Erik Turgeon gave up 3 more, all in the 8th inning to give the Fisher Cats the lead after Cohoon pitched well enough to get a win. Jordany Valdespin and Michael Fisher both doubled, but those were the only 2 hits the B-Mets had. Fisher drove in 2 runs with his, but the rest of the team was shut out, and the team struck out a total of 12 times.Palm Beach 7, St. Lucie 2This makes 6 losses in a row for the Mets. Kyle Allen had another subpar effort, giving up 4 runs and failing to get out of the 5th inning. Colin McHugh gave up 3 more runs in 3.1, but did strike out 6. Just 6 hits for the Mets: all singles. Juan Lagares drove in both the runs.Savannah 2, Rome 0Taylor Whitenton’s ERA drops below 1 after 7 shutout innings, giving up just 3 hits and striking out 3. Josh Edgin and Ronny Morla both finished the job with a scoreless inning each, with Morla earning his 3rd save since moving to the closer’s role. Only 5 total hits for the Sand Gnats, all singles, but it was enough. Cory Vaughn had 2 of the hits, and Darrell Ceciliani added his first hit since returning from the DL.
