Last night on the farm, one team completed a double-header (Binghamton), while one team had a double-header rained out (Savannah), and one team had seven players attend its league’s all-star games (St. Lucie), while one team played its season opener (Brooklyn).  Let’s see what happened.

Las Vegas 7, Oklahoma City 1

Rafael Montero got one out and threw 5 pitches before leaving the game with an apparent injury, so get used to seeing Daisuke Matsuzaka every 5 days.  Darin Gorski came in and pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 1 run on 6 hits.  Ryan Reid pitched 2 shutout innings to close out the game.  Travis d’Arnaud was 2 for 5 with a homer and 3 RBI’s; his 4th homer in his 5th game at AAA.  Omar Quintanilla and Kirk Nieuwenhuis both had 2 hits.  Nieuwenhuis and Cesar Puello both doubled.

Binghamton 4, Erie 2 (Game 1, 7 innings)

Tyler Pill had a nice outing, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits over 5.2 innings.  Adam Kolarek finished the game with 1.1 scoreless innings.  Eric Young played all 7 innings in left field and went 0 for 2 with a walk and run scored.  Brian Burgamy and Jayce Boyd had 2 hits each.

Binghamton 6, Erie 0 (Game 2, 7 innings)

Hansel Robles threw a complete game shutout, allowing 3 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 5.  Eric Young was 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts as the DH.  Brian Burgamy was 3 for 3 with a double and homer.  Matt Reynolds, Matt Clark, and Travis Taijeron all homered as well.

Brooklyn 8, Staten Island 2

Several St. Lucies Mets participated in the FSL all-star game, in which the north beat the south 6-4 (St. Lucie is in the South, btw).  Randy Fontanez threw a scoreless 8th inning.  Dilson Herrera started at shortstop and went 0 for 3 with 2 walks and an RBI.  T.J. Rivera started at second base and went 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Brandon Nimmo started in left field and went 1 for 4.  Cam Maron played a few innings at catcher and struck out in his only plate appearance.
