Last night on the farm, St. Lucie was rained out on the final day of the season’s first half, and with Fort Myers winning, the Mets finished the first half 1 game out of first place, missing out on a playoff birth, at least for now, which is a shame because they won 5 out of 6 head-to-head meetings with Fort Myers.  Following the rainout, Brandon Nimmo, Steven Matz, Dilson Herrera, T.J. Rivera, and Randy Fontanez were promoted to Binghamton.  Now onto last night’s games:

Las Vegas 8, Nashville 2

Logan Verrett scattered 8 hits over 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs and striking out 4.  Chase Bradford, Scott Rice, and John Church combined for 3.2 scoreless innings.  Omar Quintanilla, Allan Dykstra, Cory Vaughn, and Juan Centeno all had 2 hits.  Travis d’Arnaud didn’t start, but had a pinch-hit double, driving in 2 runs.

Binghamton 6, Richmond 1

Greg Peavey improved to 5-1 with 8 strong innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits.  Kevin Plawecki, Dustin Lawley, and Travis Taijeron had 2 hits each.  Rylan Sandoval and Kyle Johnson both drove in 2 runs.

Brooklyn 4, Hudson Valley 3 (10 innings)

Alberto Baldonado started and let up 1 run on 4 hits over 5.2 innings, striking out 2.  Brandon Welch got the win after giving up 2 unearned runs on 5 hits over 3.1 innings.  Jhoan Urena was 2 for 4 with a solo homer in the 9th that forced extra innings.  Amed Rosario hit a solo homer in the 1st inning.
