Before we get to last night’s games, it’s pertinent to report that both St. Lucie and Savannah have each put 7 players on the all-star team in their respective leagues.  From St. Lucie, Brandon Nimmo, Dilson Herrera, T.J. Rivera, Cam Maron, Steven Matz, Matt Koch, and Randy Fontanez will play in the Florida State League All-Star Game.  From Savannah, Gavin Cecchini, Jeff McNeil, Kevin McGowan, Miller Diaz, Akeel Morris, Robert Coles, and Dario Alvarez will play in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game.

Reno 6, Las Vegas 5

Rafael Montero returned to Vegas, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, but he continued to struggle with walks, giving 4 free passes and striking out 5.  Joel Carreno gave up 2 runs in 1.2 innings to get the blown save and the loss.  Andrew Brown and Omar Quintanilla had 2 hits each.  Zach Lutz and Brandon Allen both doubled.

Binghamton 15, Altoona 6

Tyler Pill struck out 6 in 6 innings to get the win, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits.  Matt Clark and Kevin Plawecki had 3 hits each.  Plawecki hit his 6th homer of the season and drove in 4 runs.  Cory Vaughn was 3 for 4 with a double, homer, and 3 RBI’s.  Darrell Ceciliani was 2 for 5 with a homer and 3 RBI’s.  Matt Reynolds had 3 hits; Dustin Lawley doubled and drove in a run.

Daytona 6, St. Lucie 5

Domingo Tapia had an off day, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits and 5 walks in 2.1 innings.  Brandon Nimmo was 3 for 5 with a double and RBI.  Dilson Herrera was 1 for 3 with 2 walks and an RBI.  Eudy Pina homered.  Jairo Perez was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI’s.  He’s quite old for the league, but I can’t believe Perez didn’t make the all-star team.

Savannah 3, Ashville 2

Kevin McGowan’s scoreless innings streak ends just short of 40, but he threw 8.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, striking out 3 with no walks.  Akeel Morris got the final 2 outs for his 2nd save of the season.  The Gnats only needed 5 hits, including a double by Jeff McNeil.  Dominic Smith was 1 for 3 with a walk; I’m quite surprised that after such a great May that Smith was not an all-star, especially considering his age.  Gavin Cecchini was 0 for 3 with 2 strikeouts, but he walked and scored a run.
