Last Night on the Farm - 6/6/13
Just like the Mets, both St. Lucie and Savannah were rained out, although unlike the Mets those games will not be made up. Aside from the first 2 rounds of the draft going on last night, there was some news on Matt den Dekker (remember him?), who is ready to swing a bat again in games, and is scheduled to start playing back field games in PSL today. Greg Peavey gave up 3 runs in 3.1 innings, and Armando Rodriguez gave up 2 more runs. Kirk Nieuwenhuis led off the game with a double and was singled home by Wilmer Flores, but the 51s didn’t generate much offense after that. Binghamton 5, Trenton 4Cesar Puello hit a solo homer in the bottom of the 8th to give the B-Mets the lead, and Jeff Walters shut the door in the 9th to secure the win. It was Puello’s second homerun of the game, giving him 12 on the season and 5 in his last 4 games. Richard Lucas also had 2 hits. Alonzo Harris doubled, walked twice, and drove in 2 runs. Cory Mazzoni shook off a rough start to the game, and ended up allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits in 6.2 innings, with 3 walks and 11 strikeouts.
