The struggles in Mets land continue, including most of the farm. Let’s check out the games from Saturday night:
Fresno 7, Las Vegas 2
Joel Carreno let up 6 runs in 6 innings, including 4 runs in the first inning. Allan Dykstra was 3 for 3 with a solo homer. Josh Satin had 2 hits and an RBI.
New Britain 6, Binghamton 4
Greg Peavey got hit around for 4 runs on 9 hits over 4.2 innings. Jack Leathersich gave up 2 runs on 4 hits over 2.1 innings, although he walked 1 and struck out 3. The B-Mets had 8 hits by 8 different players, including a homer by Jayce Boyd. Travis Taijeron doubled and drove in 2 runs.
Dunedin 4, St. Lucie 2
Steven Matz took the loss after allowing 4 runs on 8 hits over 6 innings, walking 2 and striking out 5. Gonzalez Germen walked 2 and struck out 2 while allowing 1 hit in a scoreless inning of relief. Dilson Herrera, Cam Maron, Cole Frenzel, and Maikis De La Cruz all doubled. The x-rays were negative on Brandon Nimmo after being HBP near the wrist in Friday night, although he was not in the lineup. St. Lucie remains 2 games back in the loss column with time running out in the first half of the season.
Savannah 4, Charleston 0
John Gant threw 7 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5. L.J. Mazzilli was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Patrick Biondi, Jeff McNeil, and Dominic Smith had 2 hits each. Gavin Cecchini was 1 for 5 with a double. Amed Rosario was 0 for 3 with a walk. Savannah is now 21 games over .500, with a magic number of 5 to clinch the first half title and a playoff spot, which is almost inevitable at this point.
