Last Night on the Farm - 7/18/13
The Mets were still off, but every minor league team was in action last night, even Kingsport finished both ends of a double-header. Let’s get to it: Las Vegas 3, Reno 2Jacob deGrom allowed 2 runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. Ruben Tejada, Eric Campbell, and Jordany Valdespin all had 2 hits each. Matt den Dekker was 1 for 3 with a homer; already his 3rd in 15 AAA games. Wilmer Flores was officially placed on the DL, but he’s eligible to come off as early as this weekend. Binghamton 4, New Britain 3A 3-run 9th inning lifted the B-Mets to victory. Darrell Ceciliani was 2 for 3 with a double. Allan Dykstra also had 2 hits. Justin Turner was 1 for 4 while playing shortstop; in 4 games for the B-Mets, Turner hit .400. Mark Cohoon started and allowed 3 runs over 7.1 innings. After the B-Mets took the lead in the 9th, Jeff Walters notched his 25th save. Brevard County 3, St. Lucie 2 (10 innings)Matt Bowman let up just 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits over 7 innings, walking 2 and striking out 4. Tim Byrdak gave up the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th. T.J. Ribera and Jayce Boyd both doubled; Boyd drove in 2 runs. West Virginia 5, Savannah 3Marcos Camarena let up 4 runs (2 earned) over 6 innings and took the loss. Brandon Nimmo was 2 for 4 with a walk and 2 strikeouts. Maikis De La Cruz also had 2 hits, including a double. Mahoning Valley 6, Brooklyn 2As seen on SNY, Dario Alvez allowed 5 runs in 5 innings. Dawrin Frias struck out 4 and gave up 1 run in 3 innings. Julio Concepcion, Tomas Nido, and Anthony Chavez had 2 hits each. James Roche and L.J. Mazzilli each doubled. Kingsport 12, Danville 2 (Game 1, 7 innings)Robert Whalen continues to be good, allowing just 2 unearned runs in 6 innings on 3 hits, striking out 7. Richie Rodriguez was 3 for 4 wit a homer and 3 RBI’s. Jonathan Leroux homered and drove in 3 runs. Jeyckol De Leon also homered. Pedro Perez had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Kingsport 8, Danville 5 (Game 2, 7 innings)Marties Arias let up 5 runs in 4 innings, but he also struck out 5 without walking anyone. Yeixon Ruiz, Jeff McNeil, Joe Tuschak, and Bradley Marquez each had 2 hits. Tuschak tripled, homered, and drove in 3 runs. Marquez doubled in each game and has his average up to .250. Don’t look now, but the K-Mets have a winning record. GCL Mets 6, GCL Cardinals 1 (7 innings)Marcos Molina threw all 7 innings, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits. Dominic was 1 for 1 with a walk and 2 RBI’s. Oswald Caraballo tripled.
