Last night on the farm, Binghamton was rained out, Savannah swept a double-header, a first round pick returned to the field, and the GCL got one more rehabbing big leaguer.  Let’s explore: Las Vegas 9, Sacramento 4Giancarloa Alvarado struggled for the first time, giving up 4 runs in 4 innings, but Justin Hampson, Greg Burke, and Pedro Feliciano combined for 5 shutout innings to secure the win.  Jordany Valdespin was 3 for 3, a homer shy of the cycle; dude is hitting .513 in AAA.  Zach Lutz, Matt den Dekker, and Juan Centeno had 2 hits each.  Wilmer Flores was 1 for 4 with a double. Lakeland 13, St. Lucie 1After 2 strong outings in a row, Alex Panteliodis got rocked for 7 runs on 9 hits in 2 plus innings.  All 3 pitchers out of the bullpen gave up runs as well.  Kevin Plawecki was 2 for 2 with a double.  Cory Vaughn was 1 for 3 with a walk and RBI. Savannah 3, Augusta 2 (Game 1, 7 innings)Back-to-back singles by Eudy Pina and Cole Frenzel drove in the game tying and game winning runs in the bottom of the 7th to give the Gnats a walk off win.  Pina and Frenzel each had 2 hits, including a double.  Brandon Nimmo was 1 for 3 with a walk and 2 strikeouts.  Marcos Camarena pitched a complete game, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. Savannah 3, Augusta 1 (Game 2, 7 innings)Matt Koch threw a complete game, allowing 1 run on 1 hit, walking none and striking out 3.  Cole Frenzel was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Brandon Nimmo was 0 for 2 with a walk. Brooklyn 3, Staten Island 2Miller Diaz struck out 8 in 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, walking 4.  Kevin McGowan struck out 5 in 3 shutout innings to get the save.  Patrick Biondi was 3 for 5 with 1 RBI.  Jared King and Matt Oberste had 2 hits each.  Gavin Cecchini returned to the lineup after missing more than 3 weeks and went 1 for 4 with 2 strikeouts. Kingsport 7, Bristol 5Chris Flexen threw 7 solid innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits without a walk, striking out 4.  Ricardo Jacquez struck out 3 batters in 1.1 innings to get the save.  Jonathan Leroux was 3 for 5 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI’s.  Amed Rosario was 2 for 5 with a double, triple, and RBI.  Zach Mathieu and Yeixon Ruiz both doubled as well.  Brad Marquez was 1 for 3 with a walk, strikeout, RBI, and 2 runs scored, as he moved up to the leadoff spot. GCL Nationals 8, GCL Mets 5Jon Niese made a rehab start, giving up 4 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits over 2 innings, no walks and 1 strikeout.  The Mets tied the game, but Lenny Rosario gave up 4 runs in 2 innings and took the loss.  Travis d’Arnaud was 3 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI’s.  Lucas Duda was 0 for 4 with a walk and 2 strikeouts; he remains hitless in 4 GCL games while d’Arnaud is hitting a cool .400.
