Happy 4th of July everyday!  The first thing to do on your Independence Day schedule is to read about last night on the farm: Las Vegas 2, Fresno 0Solo homers by Ike Davis and Jamie Hoffman provided the only runs in this game.  Davis was 3 for 4 with a double.  After 21 games, his line is .293/.424/.667.  Ruben Tejada, Matt den Dekker, and Wilmer Flores were all hitless.  Giancarlo Alvarado threw 6 scoreless outings for the second start in a row.  Jack Leathersich struck out 4 and allowed just 1 hit in 2 shutout innings. Altoona 6, Binghamton 3Cory Mazzoni let up 3 runs in 6 innings, but came out in the 7th and gave up 3 more runs without recording an out.  He scattered 9 hits and 3 walks with 6 strikeouts.  Adam Kolarek, Ryan Fraser, and Chase Huchingson all threw a scoreless inning of relief.  Allan Dykstra hit a 2-run homer.  Travis Taijeron and Josh Rodriguez doubled, but the Mets had just 4 total hits. St. Lucie 1, Jupiter 0Domingo Tapia pitched 6.2 shutout innings, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 5, but he also walked 4.  Walks have killed Tapia this year, giving away 30 free passes in 58 innings.  Tim Byrdak struck out 2 in a perfect 9th inning to get the save.  Matt Reynolds scored on an error in the 9th inning for the only run of the game. Savannah 3, Hickory 1Marcos Camarena allowed just 1 run in 5 innings with 4 strikeouts.  Julian Hilario, Paul Sewald, and Beck Wheeler combined for 4 shutout innings.  Phillip Evans was 2 for 3 with a double.  Maikis De La Cruz also doubled.  Brandon Nimmo struck out in all 4 plate appearances. Brooklyn 2, Staten Island 1 (10 innings)Carlos Valdez threw 6 shutout innings, striking out 5.  Akeel Morris got the blown save after allowing an unearned run, but he also got the win after allowing 1 hit and 1 walk with 5 strikeouts in 4 innings.  Morris has struck out 13 with no earned runs in 7.2 innings so far.  Gavin Cecchini walked, stole 2nd, but then hurt his ankle while trying to steal 3rd and had to leave the game.  Juan Carlos Gamboa replaced him and went 2 for 3 with a double.  The Cyclones won the game despite 13 strikeouts.  L.J. Mazzilli walking 3 times was the offensive highlight of the night. GCL Marlins 6, GCL Mets 2This game was started a few weeks back and finally completed.  Wuilmer Becerra was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Jean Rodriguez also had 3 hits. GCL Mets 5, GCL Marlins 4 (8 innings)Scott Atchison started and threw a scoreless inning.  Gaither Bumgardner (23rd round) and Cameron Griffin (34th round) each threw a shutout inning.  Second round pick Andrew Church gave up 3 runs in 1 inning in his professional debut, but ended up the winning pitcher.  Another sluggish effort by the offense, but they managed to score 5 runs on 5 hits and win just their 2nd game of the year.
