Last night on the farm was an odd mix of great pitching performances and really terrible pitching performances.  Let’s take a look:

 

Reno 14, Las Vegas 8

 

Giancarlo Alvarado gave up 12 runs in 2.2 innings.  The bullpen did well, including a scoreless inning from Omar Quintanilla, but the damage was already done.  Anthony Seratelli had 3 hits, including a triple, and 3 RBI’s.  Cory Vaughn and Danny Muno both doubled.  Wilmer Flores and Matt den Dekker both had 2 RBI’s.

 

Binghamton 11, Portland 4

 

Cory Mazzoni is back up to double-A, and he lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits with 1 walk and 1 strikeout.  Randy Fontanez struck out 5 in 3 scoreless innings.  T.J. Rivera was 3 for 5 with 3 doubles.  Jayce Boyd had 3 hits and 2 RBI’s.  Travis Taijeron had 3 hits, including 2 homers and 4 RBI’s.  Xorge Carrillo also had 3 hits.  Brandon Nimmo was 1 for 5 with a 3-run homer.  Dilson Herrera was 1 for 3 with 3 walks.  The B-Mets are sending 4 players to the Eastern League All-Star Game: Brian Burgamy, Kyle Johnson, Cody Satterwhite, and Jon Velasquez.

 

Savannah 6, Augusta 1

 

John Gant struck out 10 in 8 innings of work, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits with no walks.  Matt Oberste was 3 for 4 with a double and RBI.  Patrick Biondi, Dominic Smith, and Jorge Rivero all had 2 hits.

 

Hudson Valley 8, Brooklyn 4 (completion of suspended game)

 

Octavio Acosta started and let up 5 runs (3 earned) over 6.1 innings to take his first loss of the season.  Tomas Nido was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Jhoan Urena hit his 3rd homer of the season.

 

Brooklyn 3, Hudson Valley 2 (7 innings)

 

Corey Oswalt struck out 7 in 6 innings, allowing just 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits and 2 walks.  Michael Katz was 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI’s.

 

Kingsport 16, Pulaski 11

 

The pitching was bad, so let’s skip straight to the hitting.  Luis Guillorme and Oswald Caraballo had 3 hits each; Caraballo homered and drove in 3 runs.  Eudor Garcia was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Luis Ortega was 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI’s.  Jose Garcia and Branden Kaupe both had 2 hits.  Vicente Lupo doubled and drove in 2 runs.

 

GCL Mets 6, GCL Cardinals 2

 

Darwin Ramos started and let up 2 runs over 4 innings, striking out 3.  Blake Taylor came in and pitched the final 4 innings, allowing 1 walk and no hits, striking out 2.  Jared King was 2 for 4 with a solo homer in a rehab game.  John Mora and Alfredo Reyes had 2 hits each, and Enmanuel Zabala had 3 hits.
