Last night kicked off the final three weeks of the minor league season.  Let’s see what happened as they come down the stretch.


Albuquerque 8, Las Vegas 2


Giancarlo Alvarado made the spot start for Rafael Montero and let up 8 runs on 10 hits over 5 innings.  Ryan Reid and Gonzalez Germen each threw 2 shutout innings.  The 51s managed just 6 singles.


Bradenton 5, St. Lucie 4


Daisuke Matsuzaka threw 3 scoreless innings in a rehab game, allowing 1 hit and striking out 3.  Tim Peterson followed and let up 5 runs over 4 innings to take the loss.  L.J. Mazzilli and Jared King both doubled and drove in 2 runs each.  Gavin Cecchini was 0 for 3 with a walk.


Savannah 4, Asheville 3 (10 innings)


Miller Diaz struck out 6 over 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits.  Paul Paez threw 3 scoreless innings to get the win.  Yeixon Ruiz was 2 for 5 with a triple and homer.  Jorge Rivero, Victor Cruzado, and Colton Plaia all had 2 hits.  Dominic Smith was 0 for 3 with a walk.  Champ Stuart was 1 for 4 and hit a sac fly in the 10th to score Ruiz, giving the Gnats a walk-off win.


Batavia 4, Brooklyn 3


Casey Meisner scattered 9 hits over 7 innings, allowing just 2 runs but striking out just 2.  Carlos Valdez let up 2 runs in 1.2 innings, including the game-winning run in the 9th.  Jhoan urena and John Mora were both 3 for 5 with a double.  Michael Conforto was 2 for 5 with an RBI.  Tomas Nido was 3 for 4 with a double and homer.  Amded Rosario was 0 for 4 with a walk.


Johnson City 3, Kingsport 2


Gaby Almonte stayed winless, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits over 3 innings.  Luis Guillorme was 2 for 4 with a double and RBI.  Branden Kaupe and Zach Mathieu also had 2 hits each. 


GCL Nationals 3, GCL Mets 0 (6 innings, rain)


Kevin Canelon let up 3 runs over 4.1 innings, striking out 3.  Enmanuel Zabala had 2 of the Mets 3 hits.
