After Collin McHugh delivered a fantastic pitching performance for the big league club, the farmhands provided 3 more good outings by Logan Verrett, Gabriel Ynoa, and Miller Diaz.  Of course, in an attempt to even things out Cory Mazzoni and Angel Cuan got bombed.  Let’s take a look: Scranton W/B 4, Buffalo 3 (11 innings) Armando Rodriguez got the promotion and the spot start in place of Collin McHugh.  Rodriguez lasted 4.1 innings, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits.  C.J. Nitkowski gave up the winning run in the 11th.  Lucas Duda was 0 for 3 with 2 strikeouts.  Matt Tuiasosopo, Matt Den Dekker, and Lucas May all had 2 hits each.  The starting pitcher for the Yankees was former Mets LOOGY Mike O’Connor. Portland 14, Binghamton 9 Cory Mazzoni got bounced after giving up 7 runs in 3 innings.  Three of the four relievers that followed also gave up multiple runs.  Ryan Fraser managed to pitch a scoreless inning.  Wilmer Flores was 3 for 4 with a double, homer, and 2 RBI’s.  Wilfredo Tovar was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Juan Lagares, Jefry Marte, and Dustin Martin all had 2 hits each. Jupiter 9, St. Lucie 0 (Game 1, 7 innings) Angel Cuan didn’t make it out of the first inning, letting up 4 runs.  Jack Leathersich managed to pitch 2.1 scoreless innings, striking out 3.  In the 7th inning, Hamilton Bennett gave up 5 unearned runs on 6 hits after a Daniel Muno throwing error.  Offensively, the Lucies had just 4 singles. St. Lucie 8, Jupier 1 (Game 2, 7 innings) Logan Verrett pitched all 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 3 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.  After 5 starts for St. Lucie, Verrett is rocking a 2.27 ERA.  Aderlin Rodriguez was 3 for 3 with 2 homers, giving him 8 since his promotion to St. Lucie and 24 total on the season.  Travis Taijeron hit a 3-run homer and Cesar Puello had a solo shot.  Alonzo Harris was 2 for 4 with a run scored.  Harris has followed up a July in which he hit .292 by hitting .364 thus far in August. Savannah was rained out.  They’ll play two on Saturday. Tri-City 4, Brooklyn 3 (11 innings) Gabriel Ynoa lasted 6.2 innings, giving up just 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 5.  John Mincone blew the save in the 9th and then Beck Wheeler gave up 2 runs in the 11th and took the loss.  At the plate, Nelfi Zapata was 3 for 5 to raise his average to .169.  Alex Sanchez had 2 hits.  Brandon Nimmo and Phillip Evans were both 1 for 5 with a pair of strikeouts; Nimmo did drive in 2 runs. Kingsport 7, Bluefield 1 Miller Diaz gave up just 2 hits in 6 scoreless innings of work, while striking out 6 and walking none.  Akeel Morris got his second save after giving up just 1 run in 3 innings of work, striking out 6.  Morris has lowered his ERA to 7.98 (which is actually quite the accomplishment considering how he started the season).  Gavin Cecchini was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Jeyckol De Leon also had 3 hits.  Maikis De La Cruz was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI.
