It was a rather busy night on the farm, with plenty of playoff implications for the short-season clubs. Let’s have a look:
Las Vegas 10, New Orleans 8
John Lannan started and was bad yet again, giving up 8 runs on 9 hits in 4 plus innings. But the bullpen pitched a shutout the rest of the way, and Gonzalez Germen got the win after 2 scoreless innings. Taylor Teagarden was 2 for 5 with a double, homer, and 3 RBI’s. Cory Vaughn hit a 2-run pinch-hit homer to deliver the walk-off win in the 9th. Bobby Abreu was 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI’s.
Binghamton 5, Akron 1
Greg Peavey won his 11th game of the season, striking out 9 and walking 5, but allowing just 1 run on 2 hits over 5 innings. Hansel Robles, Dario Alvarez, and Cody Satterwhite combined for 4 hitless innings to close out the game. Juan Centeno was 4 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Brandon Nimmo, Jayce Boyd, T.J. Rivera, and Kyle Johnson all had 2 hits. Dilson Herrera was 1 for 4 with a walk.
Jupiter 5, St. Lucie 4

Tri-City 5, Brooklyn 0
Corey Oswalt struck out 6 in 6 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks, but the bullpen eventually faltered while the offense sputtered. Adrian Abreu and Michael Bernal had 2 hits each. Michael Conforto was for 4 with 2 strikeouts. Amed Rosario missed his 3rd straight game. Brooklyn’s lead in the wild card stays at 2 games.
Kingsport 11, Bluefield 6 (Game 1, 7 innings)
Blake Taylor scattered 9 hits over 3.1 innings, allowing 3 runs and walking 4 while striking out 3. But the K-Mets more than made up for it with plenty of offense. Oswald Caraballo doubled thrice and drove in runs. Ivan Wilson also doubled. Vicente Lupo hit a 2-run homer.
Bluefield 7, Kingsport 3 (Game 2, 7 innings)
Gaby Almonte suffered his 7th loss of the season, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits in 4 plus innings. Vicente Lupo and Luis Oretga both doubled and drove in a run. The K-Mets are now a full game out of a playoff spot.
GCL Mets 7, GCL Nationals 3 (Continued from Friday)
Adrian Almeida pitched 3 innings on Friday, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, and then on Saturday the bullpen threw 4 shutout innings to end the game, including 6 strikeouts in 2 scoreless innings from Nabil Crismatt.
