Jose De La Torre finally returned to Buffalo and pitched a shutout inning and Dale Thayer notched his 20th save of the year. The Bisons had just 6 hits, all singles except a Val Pascucci homer.Altoona at BinghamtonCancelled; will not be made upSt. Lucie 11, Bradenton 5Greg Peavey only lasted 4 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits. Erik Niesen pitched a scoreless inning and Josh Edgin struck out 3 in 2 shutout innings to get his 10th for St. Lucie and his 26th of the season. Gilbert Gomez was 4-5 with 2 solo homers. Cory Vaughn also had 2 homers and 5 RBI’s. Stefan Welch also homered and had 3 RBI’s. Cesar Puello was 4-4 with 2 runs scored.Charleston 5, Savannah 1Yohan Almonte gave up 3 runs on 8 hits in 4 innings, taking the loss. Michael Hebert did have 3 shutout innings out of the bullpen, striking out 5. The Gnats offense that put up 15 runs the previous night was of little use. The lone exception was Wilfredo Tovar, who had 2 doubles; he has 6 straight multi-hit games. Savannah has a slim 1-game lead in the SAL Southern division with a magic number of 6, although they have already clinched a playoff birth with their first half title.Kingsport 5, Bristol 3Despite the win, the K-Mets fall out of playoff contention with 2 games left in their season. Jacob Lugo pitched 5 shutout innings, giving up just 4 hits, 1 walk, while striking out 6. Jared West struck out the side in the 9th, despite walking 2, and earned his 10th save of the season. The season isn’t over just yet for Brandon Nimmo who went 1-2 with 2 walks and a strikeout. Phillip Evans also got called up to Kingsport for a few days; he had 2 hits, including a double, and an RBI. Jonathan Clark, Jeffrey Glenn, and Nestor Moreno all had 2 hits as well.
