Last night on the farm a couple of upper level pitchers had nice outings, and a couple of former first round picks had multi-hit games. Let’s find out who did what: Las Vegas 12, Oklahoma City 3Jacob deGrom allowed just 3 unearned runs in 6.1 innings, allowing 6 runs and 1 walk while striking out 6. Matt den Dekker was 3 for 5 with 3 RBI’s, a homer shy of the cycle. Brandon Hicks was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 homers, and 4 RBI’s. Eric Campbell was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Jamie Hoffman and Zach Lutz also doubled. Lucas Duda walked 4 times and struck out in his other at bat. Kirk Niuewenhuis and Ruben Tejada were both 0 for 5. Binghamton 1, Altoona 0Rhyne Hughes drove in Darrell Ceciliani in the 1st inning and that run held up the rest of the way. Darin Gorski threw 7.2 scoreless innings, allowing just 4 hits and 2 walks, striking out 3. Gorski was FSL pitcher of the year in 2011, but was rather mediocre in AA last year, and now this year he is utterly dominating AA. Jeff Walters notched save number 33. Travis d’Arnaud was 0 for 2 with a walk; he is now heading for Vegas. Bradenton 5, St. Lucie 3The Lucies scored 3 runs in the 1st inning, but couldn’t do anything after that. Kevin Plawecki was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Charley Thurber also had 2 hits. Matt Bowman struck out 5 in 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks. Cody Satterwhite struck out 6 in 2 innings, but he also gave up a run on 3 hits and took the loss. Savannah 6, Hickory 3Julian Hilario gave up 1 run over 5 innings to get the win. Beck Wheeler notched his 15th save of the season. Brandon Nimmo was 3 for 5 with 1 RBI; Nimmo now has 10 hits in his last 5 games. Maikis De La Cruz and Eudy Pina had 2 hits each. Connecticut 7, Brooklyn 3Ricky Knapp got chased early, giving up 5 runs in 1.2 innings. Juan Urbana allowed just 1 run over 3.1 innings. Gavin Cecchini was 3 for 4; he has an 8-game hit streak. Patrick Biondi was 2 for 3 with a double. Kingsport 7, Pulaski 3Chris Flexen allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 7 innings; on the year, Flexen is 6-1 with a 2.39 ERA. Ricardo Jacques struck out 3 and walked 3 while giving up 2 runs in 2 innings. Jeff Diehl was 2 for 4 with a 2-run homer. Jonathan Leroux his a 3-run homer.
