The Mets held off the D-Backs to split the series in Arizona with a win !Dickey was much closer to the Dickey of old today. R.A. was able to help out a well used bullpen by logging 7 four hit innings allowing only 1 run and striking out 8. Rauch rebounded from a rough outing Thursday night to record his 11th scoreless appearance in his last 12. Parnell worked the 9th in a non-save situation walking one and striking out 2.Offensively, the Mets got on the board early with back to back doubles from Wright and Hairston plating Murphy with the first and Wright himself with the second. The Mets managed to actually tack on runs, shockingly. In the 5th, Wright walked and stole 2nd to setup up a RBI single from Hairston. In the 6th, Murphy doubled plating Torres from 3. Finally in the 8th Murphy doubled again scoring Torres (2-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored, 6-12 in the series).Whew.... While I have no grandeur thoughts of the Mets climbing back into playoff contention, at least they responded with a split series on the road against a D-Backs team who plays much better at home.Speaking of teams that play well at home, the Mets will be heading to San Fran to take on the Giants starting tomorrow night. The Giants are among the league leaders in home winning percentage however they are coming off their 4th straight loss after getting shutout today by the Dodgers. The pitching match-up features, uh well the hell with that, never mind. Game time is really late.
