Well things just keep going down hill for the Mets since Johan's no-hitter.First on Saturday Dickey only provides a shutout, and gives up hits. Now on Sunday, Niese pitches like Dizzy Dean and a newly called up rookie gives up a run. What's next, having to rely on the offense to win a game?Niese was masterful through 6 innings. 6 hits, 1 walk and 10 strikeouts. It was rumored that he was dizzy before being removed after the 6th. That saves Terry from another questionable bullpen move. In the 7th inning rookie Elvin Ramirez gave up the first runs of the series on a few hard hit balls but Byrdak and Frankie were able to make easy work of the rest of the game.Offensively the Mets again took the lead early and were able to tack on late. In the first inning Torres doubled, Wright walked and Duda singled to bring in a run. Murphy also singled but Timmy T held Wright at 3rd to bring up a bases loaded one out situation for Ike... and well Omar Q grounded out for the 3rd out. To leave the score at 1-0.The Mets added two more in the bottom of the 4th when Niese hit one of his two singles and was followed by a bomb from the Kaptain. Kirk would be involved again in the 6th as he would single to drive in Quintanilla who had walked and was followed by a Thole walk. Andres Torres would then hit a seeing eye triple down the RF line to plate 2 more to give the Mets a 6-0 lead. The Amazin's are now 31-23, 8 games above .500 and are tied atop the NL East with Washington and Miami. Their 31 wins puts them 2 behind the most in the NL and only 1 behind the most wins in the AL as well. They look to sweep the series tomorrow in a 1:10 match-up with Loshe squaring off vs uh... Gee I think. Here's your Gameday Link.
