According to Adam Rubin the Mets are discussing the idea of trading Wagner and Delgado before the August 31st waiver deadline. This plan would be contingent upon a couple of things. One both players need to return quickly in order to prove any worth. Two the Mets would most likely have to pickup all of the salary owed to them. My hope is this happens soon along with Schneider, Sheff, and Putz. Even if the prospects are not great they are still depth that can be used in future trades. It also clears any chance of animosity in the clubhouse as the Mets should be looking to play their youth in order to establish roles for next year.
