The Mets filled a spot on their bench today by bringing back outfielder Scott Hairston. According to Sports Illustrated's John Heyman, Scott will get "$1.1M from Mets in '12, give or take a few pennies."Hairston hit .235 with 7 HRs off the bench in 2011. After a sizzling Spring Training, in which he led the team with 4 HRs, Hairston struggled in pinch hitting situations early on, showing a tendency to overswing. As he got more comfortable, he contributed more. And, like everyone else on the 2011 Mets, spent his share of time on the DL.Out of all the affordable, right-handed hitting outfielders available, Hairston is a good choice to bring back. He can play each outfield position, and provides some pop off the bench.
