Yes basketball is still kicking my butt, sorry for my absence. So what did I miss?
The Mets signed Kyle Farnsworth to a minor league deal with a spring training invite. Kyle's career looked dead following the 2008 season but has actually found a 2nd half of his career and since 2010 has posted some very serviceable to good numbers. 3.36 ERA, 1.172 WHIP and a 3.00 SO/BB ratio. We also know he can fight.
Although the Red Sox offered Drew a 2 year deal to be a utility infielder, Gammons still sees the Mets signing him because he believes he is still a starting SS. I wonder if this will be a David Eckencrappy moment where he did not sign with the Mets to play 2B because he still viewed himself as a SS?
Terry Collins is running with the bulls again by opening his mouth. And from that we get that 1B is open, mostly. It appears that Satin is going to get a lot of PA against LH pitching and his platoon partner will be anyone who bats LH not named Granderson.
Flores is in the news again as well (same article as above) as his return from fat camp has now made him a SS candidate. It appears that he will get innings at every infield position except the one that is open.
