The 2010 MLB draft continues this afternoon.   Mets picks will be updated here periodically.   Their first round pick, # 7, was RHP Matt Harvey from the University of North Carolina.   They have no second round pick due to the signing of free agent OF Jason Bay.
  • 7th round, pick # 212 - Jeffrey Walters, RHP, University of Georgia.   MLB.com scouting video.   UGA player bio.   Talks about moving from the 'pen to the rotation.
  • 8th round, pick # 242 - Kenneth McDowall, RHP, College of Southern Nevada.   MLB.com scouting video.   Teammate of # 1 overall pick Bryce Harper, the Detroit News notes this helped lots of players get noticed.   Nice relief outing in Junior College World Series.   Baseball America notes he throws 90-92 mph.   In this game he struck out 11 batters in 6 innings.
  • 10th round, pick # 302 - Akeel Morris, RHP, Charlotte Amalie HS.   MLB.com scouting video.   He threw a perfect game.   He participated in a Virgin Islands workout for MLB scouts in January.   Morris will sign "but the money has to be good."
  • 11th round, pick # 332 - Adam Kolarek, LHP, University of Maryland.   His Terps bio.   Links to two Youtube videos.   He had two hits but did not fare well in relief in this game.   However, this game was better.   The Arbutus Times notes an unforgettable moment for Kolarek.
  • 13th round, pick # 392 - Brian Harrison, 3B, R/R, Furman University.   His Furman bio.   Interview with him when he committed to Furman.   Played in the Cape Cod League in 2009, some pics of him in action.   PhilliesPhans.com notes that he's a dangerous power hitter, when he's able to play.
  • 14th round, pick # 422 - James Brown, 2B, L/R, University of Pacific.   According to his Tigers bio he goes by J.B. Brown.   He was rated the 9th best middle infielder by Rivals.com.
  • 15th round, pick # 452 - Tillman Pugh, CF, R/R, Sonoma State University.   His Sonoma bio.   Youtube video of nice catch.   Previously attended Arizona State University.   Sonoma State is "bounce back U" for former Division One players.   An interview with him about being drafted.   He was drafted by the Mariners in the 16th round in 2009.
  • 16th round, pick # 482 - Ryan Fraser, RHP, University of Memphis.   His Tigers bio.   Multiple time winner of Conference USA Player of the Week award.   He's smart too.   Tampa Bay picked him in the 49th round in 2006, way to move up!
  • 17th round, pick # 512 - Chad Sheppard, RHP, Northwestern State University.   His Demons bio.   He's an All-American.   He excelled under pressure.   Some of his exploits as a closer.
  • 20th round, pick # 602 - Lucas Stewart, 1B, L/R, University of Alabama-Birmingham.   According to his UAB bio he goes by Luke Stewart.   Previously played at Georgia.   He hit a grand slam.   His hometown paper interviewed him about being drafted by the Mets.
  • 21st round, pick # 632 - Dabias Johnson, 2B, R/R, Cook HS.
  • 23rd round, pick # 692 - Drew Martinez, CF, L/L, University of Memphis.   His Tigers bio.   He's one of four Tigers to earn All-Conference USA honors.
  • 24th round, pick # 722 - Erik Goeddel, RHP, UCLA.   MLB.com scouting video.   His Bruins bio.   A Youtube video.   He helped the Bruins to the Super Regionals.   He's someone to keep an eye on in the LA Super Regionals according to yahoo sports.
  • 26th round, pick # 782 - James Butler, SS, S/R, Mississippi State University.   According to his MSU bio he goes by Jet Butler.   His Perfect Game profile has some pics and stats from his HS days.   Bulldawg Junction has some nice pics.
  • 27th round, pick # 812 - Michael Weldon, RHP, Wayland Baptist University.   According to his Wayland Baptist bio he goes by Todd Weldon.   He helped Wayland Baptist sweep a doubleheader.   He was selected as a starter on the Wayland Baptist All-Decade Team, in part for setting the school record for strikeouts in a season with 120.   Pic of him leading the seniors past the traditional bat sculpture.
