Nick Evans was excited entering spring training. In spring camp, he was even playing right field, and there was talk of center field. He had a good spring, and made the club.Then the Mets acquired Gary Sheffield. Evans was optioned to AAA Buffalo. He got off to a horrible start. After batting .093 in 22 games, he was demoted to extended spring training. He eventually made his way to AA Binghamton, where he perfomed better. June 19, he was recalled to the Mets.In 7 games since his recall, Evans has 6 hits in 18 at bats, a .333 average. He has 3 doubles, 1 home run and 4 RBI.
