Fanny Blankers, 'The Flying Housewife'Coming into tonight's game the New York Mets were 20-7 when scoring first, 16-4 when Jose Reyes scores and perhaps least surprising they were 6-0 when holding their opponent scoreless.   Mets starter Mike Pelfrey (7-1) was a bit wild, walking 5, but he held the Philadelphia Phillies scoreless on 3 hits over 7 innings.   Pedro Feliciano tossed a scoreless 8th and closer Francisco Rodriguez picked up the save (9) with a 1-2-3 9th inning to complete the third consecutive blanking of the division rival Phillies as the Mets swept the series with a 3-0 victory at Citi Field.   This is the first time the Mets have shut out an opponent in a 3-game series at home since they did it to these same Phillies in 1969, a great year for the Mets.   The triumvirate of scoring first, Reyes scoring, and holding the opponent scoreless is proving to be a very successful formula for the 2010 Mets.Phils offense cures insomniaThe Mets scored first in the bottom of the 1st and it was Reyes who did the scoring.   He led off with a single, moved to second on a Luis Castillo ground out and scored on a double to deep left by Jason Bay.The Phillies route to home plateThe game remained 1-0 Mets until the bottom of the 7th.   Jeff Francoeur led off with a single but was forced out on a fielder's choice grounder hit by Henry Blanco.   Fernando Tatis then pinch-hit for Pelfrey and reached on an error by Phillies 3rd baseman Placido Polanco.   A Reyes double to left plated both for the eventual winning score of 3-0.   The Mets are now 20-9 at home. The Mets do this wellBox scorebonus image: Goose Egg
