Ridin' Dirty DozenThe New York Mets sent a real dirty dozen batters to the plate in the bottom of the 8th inning, scoring 6 runs off 3 Washington Nationals relief pitchers to turn a 6-2 deficit into an 8-6 lead, then Francisco Rodriguez pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning for his 5th save helped by yet another Ike Davis acrobatic falling-into-the-dugout-catch of a foul pop up to end the ballgame.Our Animal is way better than this oneBrian Bruney came on in relief for the Nats in the 8th with a 4 run lead.   Jason Bay led off with a single.   David Wright followed with a double moving Wright to 3rd.   Davis then reached 1st on an error by Nats shortstop Ian Desmond while Bay scored.   Tyler Clippard (6-1) then relieved Bruney and struck out the first batter he faced, Jeff Francoeur.   Rod Barajas followed with a 2-run double to left plating Wright and Davis.   Alex Cora reached on a bunt single moving Barajas to 3rd base.   Angel Pagan was up next and hit an RBI single tying the game at 6 runs apiece.   That set the stage for The Animal, Chris Carter.   Carter made his first regular season appearance as a Met pinch-hitting for reliever Raul Valdes (1-0).   He quickly made himself more of a fan favorite than he already was when he doubled into the right field corner driving in Cora with the go-ahead run.   Miguel Batista relieved Clippard and intentionally walked Jose Reyes, then unintentionally walked Bay forcing in another run making it 8-6 Mets.   Adding to the drama, before he popped out to center as the 12th batter of the inning to end it, Davis launched a long drive down the right field line into the upper stands that was called foul on the field, then subjected to video review.   After review the call of foul was upheld and after 8 innings the Mets led 8-6.Field Goal FrenzyWashington kicked a pair of field goals, the first one coming in the 1st inning.   With 1 out Christian Guzman walked.   Ryan Zimmerman followed with a single, then Adam Dunn homered over the beige Caesar's sign in the right field corner to give the Nats a 3-0 lead after half an inning.   The Mets got 1 run in the bottom of the 2nd.   Bay led off with a single.   Wright singled Bay to 2nd base but then was forced out when the next batter Davis grounded into a double play.   Bay moved to 3rd on that play, then scored on a Francoeur single making it 3-1.   The Nats second field goal came in the top of the 5th.   Guzman led off with a double, then Zimmeman walked.   After a Dunn strikeout, Josh Willingham walked loading the bases.   Ivan Rodriguez then knocked Mets starter Jonathon Niese from the game with a 2-run single.   Manny Acosta relieved and immediately gave up an RBI single to Desmond and the Nats had a 6-1 lead.let not our sacrifice be in vainWright led off the bottom of the 6th with a double, then moved to 3rd base on a fly ball out to center by Davis.   At this point Nats starter Scott Olsen was removed from the game despite having thrown only 82 pitches.   Tyler Walker relieved and immediately gave up a sacrifice fly to Francoeur making it 6-2.   It stayed that way until the bottom of the 8th.Box score
