"There was supposed to be an Earth-shattering kaboom!"Since the All-Star Game the New York Mets offense has been distinctly lacking kaboom. Tonight, in a game managed by Dave Jauss due to the 1-game suspension of Mets manager Jerry Manuel for bumping an umpire in Los Angeles over the weekend, the Mets found their kaboom. In the bottom of the 4th inning with the St. Louis Cardinals and Mets tied 1-1 Cards starter Adam Wainwright (14-6) walked Carlos Beltran with 1 out.   Ike Davis singled moving Beltran to third base.   Then the Mets unleashed their long lost kaboom. Jeff Francoeur, playing only because starting OF Jason Bay is suffering from a concussion, hit a 3-run homer into the front row of the left field seats to give the Mets a 4-1 lead.   The Mets scored 2 runs each in the 5th and 6th innings to blow the game open with the runs in the 6th coming courtesy of a Jose Reyes 2-run homer into the Pepsi Porch.   Jonathon Niese (7-4) pitched 6 innings of 1-run ball to pick up the win.   The Cardinals added a meaningless run on a double play ground out by Randy Winn in the top of the 8th for the final score.   New York 8, St. Louis 2.box score
