Chris Capuano went to the hill to not only put a halt to the Mets losing streak, but try to do the one thing the Mets have problems with, beating the Marlins. Brad "Mr" Hand went to the mound to try to take the Marlins to .500.Omar Infante greeted Capuano with a solo shot in the top of the first. The Mets mounted a threat in the bottom of the second when, after two outs, both Pagan and Duda singled but new call up Mike Nickeas flied out.Jose Reyes broke out of his mini slump by hitting a solo home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the third. The home run was made more enjoyable because it was called by Jacob Resnick the SNY kidcaster. It could have been trouble for Capauano in the fourth when he gave up a double and two walks to load the bases-but he got out of the inning unscathed. Scott Hairston hit is second base hit in the bottom of the fourth and after a Bay walk, the Mets were poised for a big inning but it never happened-Pagan, Duda and Nickeas would fly out stranding two runners.Omar Infante homered for the second time in the top of the fifth but the Mets answered back when Capuano led off the bottom of the frame and was pushed to third on a ground rule double by Justine Turner. It would be David Wright's fielder's choice that would knot the game at 2.Pagan hit a parachute fly ball in the bottom of the sixth-after a steal and a passed ball, Pagan sat on third with only one out: He would score on a Lucus Duda line drive to left field. Manny Acosta threw a scoreless 7th inning. Besides giving up an infield hit to, you guessed it, Omar Infante, Bobby Parnell pitched a scoreless eighth inning.Izzy came in the ninth and did his best K-Rod imitation, except he didn't get out of the inning, he gave up a walk, base hit and after hitting a batter, loaded the bases with only one out. And just when you think the Mets were going to get out of the inning, Justine Turner misplayed a ground ball and threw the it away giving the Marlins the lead. The Mets were only able to draw a walk in the ninth and went down quietly-they are now .500Side Notes: Dan Murphy was pulled to give Scott Hairston some playing time, (yea sure!). Duda played first and did a pretty good job scooping some balls out of the dirt thrown from Wright. Mike Nickeas was like a cat behind the plate tonight, he blocked a ton of pitches in the dirt and played a solid backstop-he even threw out a runner in the top of the seventh. Chris Capuano pitched six solid innings and gave up only two runs and left with the lead.
