It was Mike Pelfrey who took to the hill tonight to try to not only draw the Mets even in the series against the Phillies but also stop a 2 game losing streak.  Cole Hamels would attempt to stifle the potent Mets line-up. It would be a real pitchers duel until the eighth inning. The Mets would stake Pelfrey to a one run lead when Reyes, who continues to stay hot, hit a double, advanced on a steal to third and was pushed home by Rusty's brother Justine Turner.Jose Reyes just ran all over the Phillies tonight, after a his second base hit and steal, would score again on a Jason Bay single.  By the time the third inning was over, the Mets had five stolen bases against Hamels. The Phillies would get to Pelfrey in the fourth and score a run when, after a Chase Utley cheap double, Ibanez pushed him home with a real double.  Pelfrey would work hard and get his pitch count up into the 70's, but make it out with the lead.  Big Pelf would pitch into the eighth inning and leave with a man on and a slim 2-1 lead.  His final line, 7 2/3 innings giving up just 4 hits.  But the Phillies would jump all over the bullpen and take the lead throwing Pelf's effort away. The Mets would go through 3 pitchers in the top of the eighth inning and would give it all back and more.  After Pelfrey got two outs, he was lifted after giving up a single to Rollins. Pelfrey would be lifted for Mike O'Connor who would and let up a base hit to Chase Utley that would tie the game at 2.  Chase Utley would steal second and advance to third on an errant throw.  Izzy came in and walked Polanco.  He was lifted for Byrdak who coughed up the lead permanently when Howard hit a 3 RBI double and put the Phillies up 4-2.The Mets were done at this point, they went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the eighth and didn't even pose a threat in the ninth.Side Notes:  It's getting a little scary when, in the first inning, Chase Utley drew a walk and the crowd cheered.  Just how many Phillie fans are coming to Citi Field?   I'll say this, A LOT!  Enough to make Fred keep this team a little longer than I would like.  I love Justine Turner.  I know that he's going to cool down but I think the Mets have to keep up in Queens for the season. This team has really went down hill since Fred Wilpon's comments were published.  It has really made me root for Picard's lawsuit against him.  Fred said his team was sh***y and it's exactly what he got this week.  Funny thing is, they really were playing well even dropping two to the Yankees.
