R.A Dickey was given the task of trying to get the Mets another W.  James McDonald wore the skull and cross bones for the Pirates.  It was a pitching duel.  Hard throwing McDonald vs. the knucke ball Dickey. The Mets got on the board in the top of the second when after a Murphy one out walk,  Ike "I could be in the minors by Friday" Davis, had a chance to push him to second but struck out. Ronny Cedeno drew a walk to put runners on first and second for a clean shaven Mike Nickeas who hit a single into left field giving the Mets a one run lead.Dickey went back to work and retired the next nine batters before Rod Barajas got a double in the bottom of the fifth.Josh Harrison, who already had a double earlier in the game, hit a one out triple in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Andrew Mccutchen hit a sac fly to knot the game at one a piece.Dickey pitched seven innings and struck out a career high 11 batters. The Mets got the lead back in the top of the eighth when Mike Baxter hit a two base hit to dead center field,  Kirk Nieuwenhuis drew a walk after being down two strikes.  David Wright came to the plate and struck out (for the third time) so it was up to Lucus Duda- who hit a base hit scoring the go-ahead run.  The Pirates would give away a another run when Murphy hit a custom made out to third that was mishandled thus giving the Mets a two run lead.Jon Rauch came in to pitch the bottom of the eighth and gave up a one out double.  It looked like Rauch was about to get out of the inning when Andrew Mccutchen hit a bloop pop fly that Murphy failed to make an over the shoulder catch.  The Mets had a skinny one run lead going into the ninth.Frank Francisco came in and got his save number 11.
