After an hour and 20 minute rain delay, Dillon Gee was given the task of extending the Mets win streak, his opponet: the red bearded Barry Enright.Gee would run into a little trouble in the first when he gave back to back hits-a single and a triple, to put the D-Backs up by a run. The Mets would counter in the bottom of the frame by sending seven men to the plate and scoring two runs. That would come when a Reyes walk and Wright base hit would put runners on the corners and after a Beltran foul out, Wright stole second and Jason Bay hit a 2 RBI base hit up the middle. It would only take Gee only six pitches to get through the top of the second inning.Jason Pridie got his first base hit in the Majors when he led of the bottom of the second with a nice clean single to right field. The Mets would really punish Enright in the bottom of the third when Jason Bay and Ike Davis(2-4 on the day) would hit back to back tape measure home runs and extend the Met lead to 3-1. Josh Thole drove one to the Mo Zone for a double but would be left stranded. The Mets gave the D-Backs 2 runs back in the top of the fourth when an error by Murphy and a misplayed foul ball that Davis couldn't catch gave the Arizona 2 extra outs and they took advantage.Gee would go 6 innings and give up only 5 hits and the bullpen(Beato, Izzy and K-Rod) held the D-Backs scoreless. The Mets would eventually tack on 2 more runs and except for a late rally in the ninth due to K-Rod's tightrope pitching, the Diamond Backs would fail to score.Jon Niese takes the ball tomorrow afternoon for the series sweep.Side Notes. The Mets pounded out 15 hits this afternoon including Bay and Davis who went yard in a big way. Except for the sloppy plays in the third, which consequently, put the D-Backs back in the game, the Mets handled Arizona like the bad team, which is a good sign. Izzy looks like he owns the 8th inning and it's good to see. Even if the Mets are up by 5 runs, K-Rod makes me nervous every time he pitches. Big day for Murphy with two big hits and he actually played the whole game at second base-yikes! Looks like he might be playing second a lot more. And finally, regarding Dillon Gee, how can they send him down? I think he's a keeper.
