The Mets head to Pittsburgh to begin their 18th road series against a National League opponent.  Thanks to losing to the Houston Astros 3-2 tonight the Mets split their 4-game series with the Astros at 2 games apiece keeping their road futility intact.  In 17 road series so far against NL teams the Mets are 0-13-4.  They failed to win tonight because their offense is not major league caliber.  Against such luminaries as Houston starter Bud Norris (lifetime 11-10, 5.10) and relievers Wilton Lopez (lifetime 2-4, 4.42) and Brandon Lyon (lifetime 33-39, 4.14) the Mets managed 3 total hits, all singles.  Given that offensive output Mets starter Pat Misch (0-2 in 2010) would have had to have been perfect.  He was merely "quality" as in he threw a so-called quality start by going at least 6 innings and giving up 3 runs or less.  In fact he went precisely 6 innings (plus) and gave up precisely 3 runs which came in a bunch in the top of the 7th when he gave up singles to the 1st 2 batters then a 3-run homer into the Crawford Boxes by Carlos Lee put the game out of reach for the lowly Mets despite their somehow scoring 2 runs of their own which they did in the 4th inning on a walk, a hit-by-pitch, an RBI ground out by Jeff Francoeur and an RBI single by Chris Carter.  Watch out Pirates here come the New York Mets!box score
