Jon Niese went to the mound to try to end the one game losing streak, Yovani Gallardo would oppose him. A side note to the game, Jason Bay was not in the line up looking to clear his head, Jason Pridie would take his place and contribute to tonight's win. Daniel Murphy hit in the clean up spot.It would be Rubin Tejada that would drive in the first run for the Mets in the top of the second inning. Jason Pridie, who was on second base via a fielders choice would race home on a base hit up the middle. The Mets won add a run in the fourth when Angel Pagan pulled a ball down the right field line for his second triple of the season , Jason Pridie would his a sac fly to bring him home. The Mets looked for more when Josh Thole would single and Tejada would hit his second hit of the night and with one out but Jon Niese struck out and Reyes grounded into a fielder's choice thus ending the threat.Meanwhile, Jon Niese was dealing again, he retired the first 11 batters and didn't allow a hit until Prince Fielder hit a bomb to center field scoring Braun from first base. The Mets chased Gallardo from the game in the fifth when Justine Turner led off with a base hit and Carlos Beltran's pushed him to second with his second hit of the night. Murphy would hit a single scoring Turner who really hustled home and Angel Pagan would hit another single scoring Beltran making the score 4-1. Tim Dillard came in for the Brew Crew and put out the fire.Niese ran into trouble in the seventh when Braun reached first on a single and Fielder walked; however, Niese wiggled his way out with a long fly out, a foul ball catch and a strike out thus preserving the lead. Jon Niese allowed 3 hits over 7 2/3 innings. K-Rod was brought in for a 4 out save not before allowing a double in the ninth to Prince Fielder.Side Notes: Is it official that Jon Niese can pitch? He had his curveball working tonight bigtime. Jose Reyes was hitless tonight in five at bats. The Mets did a good job knocking Gallardo out of the game early. I know the Brewers have a better record than the Mets but I think for this series, the Mets looked even with them. If the Mets can stay somewhat hot, they could be .500 or better by the time they return to Citi Field.Red hot Dillion Gee takes the mound tomorrow against the Pirates.
