Bobby was deluxe but not mixedBobby Parnell's 2nd major league start was a lot better than his first.   The New York Met pitcher's conversion from reliever to starter continued and his pitch count was elevated from 68 in his previous start to 86 in this one, and he spread those 86 pitches over 6 scoreless innings, allowing only 3 hits while walking none and striking out 7.   Parnell improved his season record to 3-4 as the Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 3-0.Nice .500 beardThe Mets got off to a quick start.   Parnell struck out the 1st batter he faced, Eugenio Velez, and the Mets 1st batter, Angel Pagan, homered to give the Mets an early 1-0 lead.   Pagan now has 14 hits in 35 1st inning lead off at bats for an average of .400.Parnell was calm & cool like a hitmanIn the 4th inning Jeff Francoeur drove in Luis Castillo with an RBI double and in the 6th inning Castillo scored again, this time on a Gary Sheffield sacrifice fly which put the Mets up 3-0.   That's the way it would stay.Bobby showed his good Carolina breedingParnell finished his evening strong, striking out 4 of the last 6 batters he faced.   Brian Stokes and Pedro Feliciano kept it scoreless and handed it over to Francisco Rodriguez who kept Met fans' blood pressure low with a 1-2-3 inning to record his 26th save. Please visit for the box score.
