No offense New York Mets but I'm not hanging around to see whether you resume play against the Pittsburgh Pirates or not so here's my up-to-the-rain delay game summary.  Jose Reyes got things started quickly for the Mets doubling to RF on the 1st pitch of the game from Pirates starter James McDonald.  A bunt single by Angel Pagan put runners on the corners with no out.  Then it got wackyCarlos Beltran flied out to shallow center.  On the play Reyes faked down the line toward home drawing a throw from Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen.  1B Garrett Jones failed to cut off the throw so as Reyes went safely back to 3rd base Pagan advanced to 2nd base putting 2 runners in scoring position.  Chris Carter came to the plate and was called out on a checked swing strike 3 that to my eye was not a swing at all.  Whatever it was it was catcher Chris Snyder dropped the pitch so Carter took off for 1st base.  Snyder threw to 1st to get Carter out and during the throw Reyes attempted to score sliding head first into Snyder as the latter received the throw back from Jones at 1st base.  To my eye Reyes never touched the plate but was called safe as Snyder argued and Pagan moved to 3rd base where he was stranded by David Wright who struck out looking.  1-0 Mets after 1/2 an inning.  The Pirates got that run back in the bottom of the 3rd when McCutchen led off with a double and scored on a single by Neil Walker tying the game at 1 run apiece. In the 4th inning the Mets regained the lead when Ike Davis led off with a double and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Ruben Tejada.  Shortly before the rain became too much to continue in the Mets increased their lead and yet another lead off double was involved.  This time it was Pagan doing the honors.  Beltran followed with a walk and 1 out later Wright launched a home run to deep center field giving the Mets a 5-1 lead.  In the top of the 6th with none out and Reyes on 1st base after a single the umpiring crew finally called for the tarp and the game went into delay.  As of the delay Mets starter Jonathon Niese was still in the game and in position to get the win should the score hold.  That is where I leave you.  You may catch up on anything that followed by clicking on this box score link.
