Ugh!  I stopped paying all but the most casual attention to the baseball game on the TV near me as soon as the ball left David Ross' bat on it's way over the left field wall for the 10th grand slam against the New York Mets this season and an 8-2 Atlanta Braves 5th inning lead.  The blast by Ross came shortly after an error on a ground ball by Luis Castillo opened the floodgates and it knocked Mets starter Jonathon Niese (8-7) out of the game.  Niese's final line was 4 2/3 innings pitched, 8 runs (3 of which were earned) on 10 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6 made for his second consecutive underwhelming start. The Mets actually had the lead in this game.  Trailing 1-0 entering the 5th they scored twice on sacrifice flies, one each by Jeff Francoeur (who may be a Texas Ranger later tonight) and Henry Blanco.  But that 2-1 Mets lead quickly evaporated half an inning later.  Highly touted Braves rookie pitcher Mike Minor (3-0) was underwhelming allowing 10 base runners in 5 innings but unlike the Mets the Braves kept most of them from scoring and ultimately cruised to victory.  Happy note:  after the game SNY announced that Jenrry Mejia and Lucas Duda will be with the club tomorrow when 40-man rosters expand.  Final score Atlanta 9, New York score
