I guess some ingenuity goes along way. Dillon Gee came in and stopped the Mets dreadful skid in hot-lanta today, going 5.2 innings and allowing only 1 run. Josh Thole did his best Paul Loduca impression in the 2 hole, going 2-4 with 2 RBI's. Terry Collins continued with his out of the box thinking as Chris Capuanno, R.A. Dicky both appeared in this game to relieve Gee and combined for 2.1 scoreless innings of relief.Izzy came on in the 8th to continue the trend, unfortunately he could not as Jayson Heyward greeted him rudely with a home run. Izzy would subsequently walk Mccann but Mccann would later get Mccann out, taking off early and getting picked off. Izzy would bear down and strike out Hinske to retire the side.
In what must be what K-rods mind looks like while on the mound, he was tasked with closing a 1 run lead for the Mets, ending their longest losing streak since 1974. K-rod would immediately walk Chipper to start the inning. Alex Gonzalez bunted to move Chip over but got Matt Young to ground out for the 2nd out. With Chip on third and Brooks Conrad at the plate, K-rod strikes him out with a change up low to secure his 2nd save and end the Mets 7 game lose streak.
