Tonight, the Diamondbacks come to town to begin a three-game set with the Mets. The Mets come into this series not playing well at all. After their sweep courtesy of the Astros, the Mets don't look great. The first game was a close one, with the Mets losing 4-3. R.A. Dickey allowed three runs over six innings. Manny Acosta allowed a run in the eighth, putting the Astros up 4-3, which would end up being the final score. The second game again went to the Astros, this time by a score of 6-3. Jon Niese allowed five runs over just three innings in his start. Niese allowed two home runs, and was pinch hit for in the fourth, in a desperation move by Terry Collins to score some runs. They scored, but not enough. J.A. Happ allowed onlt three runs over 6.1 innings. The Houston bullpen took it the rest of the way, holding the Mets scoreless. The third game was no contest. Chris Schwinden struggled once again, allowing five earned over four innings. Manny Acosta gave up three more runs and the Astros won 8-1.The Diamondbacks, coming in at an even 13-13, have had a very up and down season thus far. They started out 7-1, but have gone 6-12 since. Jason Kubel has hit very well this year, batting .318 with three home runs and 12 RBI. With Chris Young on the DL, Kubel is the best hitter the D-Backs have right now. Justin Upton is hitting just .247 this year with only 8 RBI. Upton had a career year last year, hitting 31 homers and driving in 88 runs. He also stole 21 bases. However, he hasn't managed to pull it together so far this season. Here are the pitching matchups for this series:Tonight- 7:10 Dillon Gee- In his last start, Gee pitched seven innings in  Colorado, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out seven. Gee is 2-2 this season with a 4.85 ERA. He is 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA and 1.091 WHIP in two career starts against Arizona.Wade Miley- Miley has pitched very well since replacing the injured Daniel Hudson in the rotation. He has made two starts, allowing only three hits over 12.1 innings.Saturday- 4:10 Johan Santana- Johan is still looking for his first win of the season. He has gotten absolutely no run support from the offense this year, leaving him winless despite a 2.25 ERA. In his last start, Santana threw six shutout innings, allowing only two hits while striking out five.Patrick Corbin- Corbin was called up from Double-A to make his big league debut in Miami. He allowed three runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings.Sunday- 1:10R.A. Dickey- Dickey 3-1 this season with a 4.45 ERA. He has pitched well,  with the exception of one start.Trevor Cahill- Cahill dominated in his last start against the Nationals, ttossing 7.1 innings, allowing just one run. Hitters are batting just .221 against him this season.More notes...-- Happy Star Wars Day to R.A. Dickey. Dickey is a well-known Star Wars buff. May the fourth be with you R.A.-- The Mets are 2.5 games back in the divisional race, so this series could put them closer to the top, for what it's worth.-- The Mets will have Vinny Rottino for this series to come off the bench for them. Rottino, a 32 year-old outfielder, was called up today. He is hitting .317 in Triple-A this season.--The Mets looked really sloppy against the Astros. David Wright spoke for the team saying that the series before, a three-game set in Colorado, took a lot out of the team. This past series was especially disappointing because the Mets should be beating teams like the Astros. If they want to make a run of any kind, they need to win the games they are supposed to and not let fatigue get to them.
