Slurm: The Official Party Drink of Slurms McKenzie The Party WormA night after a game featuring 7 home runs, The New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies played a game in which only 2 were hit, but both were by Chase Utley (14, 15) and the second one came in the top of the 11th inning off Bobby Parnell, the first home run he's allowed in his major league career, to give the Phillies a 5-4 victory and a 2-4 record versus the Mets this season.Pelfrey couldn't control his angerIn a game filled with sparkling defensive plays by both teams, two defensive miscues cost the Mets the lead.   In the top of the 7th inning with the Mets ahead 4-1, Ryan Howard and Raul Ibanez started the inning with back to back singles off of a rattled Mike Pelfrey.   In the previous inning Utley called time and stepped out of the batter's box prompting Pelfrey to yell at him and the two exchanged pleasantries from 60' 6".   Then Pelfrey appeared to suffer a return of the "yips" which had plagued him in a recent appearance, causing him to balk multiple times in that game.   In this game he did not balk but he stepped off the mound and first David Wright, then the whole infield joined by Jerry Manuel spoke with Pelfrey to calm him down.   He got out of that inning, but not the next one.No la tengoWith Howard and Ibanez on 1st and 2nd with no one out, Jayson Werth hit a ball to the centerfield wall that Beltran leapt too high to catch and it bounced off the heel of his glove.   It was scored a single which loaded the bases, and Pelfrey was replaced on the mound by Sean Green.   Pedro Feliz then singled in a run to make it 4-2.   Carlos Ruiz then hit a ground ball which was muffed by Wright making it 4-3.   After pinch hitter Paul Bako struck out, a Jimmy Rollins ground ball out drove in the tying run.Classic album, not a winning formula for the MetsThe Mets left 16 runners on base, and even when they did score played station to station ball.   Leading 1-0 in the bottom of the 4th inning, the Mets scored 3 runs on 3 consecutive bases loaded singles by Pelfrey (who had doubled earlier), Luis Castillo and Alex Cora.Pelfrey hit better than he pitchedAside from Pelfrey's 2 for 3 night at the plate, other bright spots included both Wright and Omir Santos going 3 for 5, and the Mets knocking around World Series MVP Cole Hamels with 13 baserunners and 4 runs in 5 innings.   Also of note were back-to-back sparkling defensive plays in the 5th by Wright and Beltran.   Wright barehanded a ground ball and threw Werth out at first, then Beltran made a diving grab of a sinking liner off the bat of Feliz.   Fernando Tatis made a spectacular leaping grab of a liner off the bat of Werth and stepped on first for a double play in the 10th.   All that great play could not overcome the 2 miscues and the 16 left on base.   Tonight's defeat was the 6th this season for the Mets after leading by at least 3 runs. Tomorrow night the Mets look to win the rubber game of this series with Tim Redding versus Jaime Moyer.Box score courtesy
