Last nights game was a laughter that almost turned into a crier. After a 58 minute rain delay in which the Mets led Ace Pitcher, Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers 3-0, the Mets exploded for eight runs in the top of the third inning - a inning that would see 14 Mets come to the plate. Jose Reyes, Angel Pagan and David Wright combined for 10 hits, nine runs scored and seven RBI ! But unfortunately Jonathan Neise wasn't as sharp, surrendering 6 runs in 4 1/3 innings of work. I was actually surprised that Jerry Manuel actually Left Niese in after such a long rain delay, risking a potential injury. And Niese's performance was night and day. Niese was sharp over the first few innings, but after the rain , he was wild - hitting a batter, and the Tigers had no problem hitting him. Fernando Nieve came in to pitch 2 1/3 innings , giving up one run (credited to Niese) but other than that he was flawless. The recently promoted Bobby Parnell pitched a scoreless eighth , while Ryota Irigashi pitched a perfect ninth which sealed the win for the Mets, putting them back within a game and a half of the division leading Atlanta Braves. With his two r.b.i's last night, David Wright has moved past the legendary Ed Kranepool and for sole possession of fourth place on the Mets all time rbi list. Next up is Howard Johnson is third on the list with 629 RBI.And for all the critics from last season that said the Mets farm system is barren, Yesterday Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the 2010 XM All-Star FuturesGame to be played at Angels Stadium on July 11th. Representing the New York Mets will be minor league pitcher, Jeurys Familia as a member of the world team roster. It's great to hear that Carlos Beltran will begin his minor league rehabilitation assignment on Thursday with the St. Lucie Mets (A)of the Florida State League. Can you imagine what kind of juggernaut of a batting order we will have upon his return !!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     " The Mets bats were scary last night !!!"And with that said...
