All I can say about last nights game is just - WOW! Let me put it to you this way, when the game had started at 4 p.m. , my wife and I were just leaving our friends house in Matawan N.J. When the game ended we were up in bed my wife dead asleep and be not caring who won the game as long as it was over ! How long did this game take you may ask/ Well let me put it to you this way - Sarah Palin was elected president and impeached before this game was over. Tony LaRussa's hair went completely grey because his hair dye had faded! And speaking of Tony LaRussa , I never thought I'd see the day that he would be out managed by Jerry Manuel !I do admit I was extremely worried with Johan's velocity yesterday. His fastball was barely finding 90 m.p.h at first and he was laboring. But as the game wore on he did get stronger and his fastball did touch 92 on the radar gun. Kudos do go out to the entire Mets bullpen - even Frankie Rodriguez. Please don't get on K-ROD's case the man threw enough bullpen pitches that he probably was spent by the time he let up the Cardinals lone run. And Mike Pelfrey , he looked dominant last night in his inning of relief work - earning his first career save. I would rip the Mets offense today, no hit through the first six innings and not knocking in runs with runners in scoring position, not to mention some poor base running for the second straight game - but a win is a win and I know if there was a heaven Bob Murphy would be looking down with a Reingold in his hand yelling " THE METS WIN! THEY WIN THE DAMNED GAME !!!"                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             " The Happy Recap !"And with that said..... HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!!Happy birthday wishes goes out to one of the original pitchers from the '62 season , Larry Foss (1936)Pitcher from the "72 team, Chuck Taylor is 68.(1942)One of the best fielding second basemen in Mets history, Doug Flynn is 59.(1951) Doug is probably one of the best remembered Mets from the dark era of Mets baseball ( '77 -'83). He was a gold glover for the Mets - he just could never hit for average.Rico Brogna, the minor league first baseman who came out of no where and stole the first base job from David Segui is 40. (1970)Reserve outfielder from the '08 team, Brady Clark is 37. (1973)New York Mets traded minor league pitchers Felix Perdomo and Steve Ray to the New York Yankees for utility infielder,Tucker Ashford on April 18, 1983.And today's Mo Vaughn tidbit - He cleaned out an entire Domino's Pizza while watching yesterdays game !
