Well the Mets drive to get to a .500 road record got one step closer to reality with their 7-6 come from behind win against the mediocre Cleveland Indians last night. Johan Santana, looked lost in his first three innings of work, giving up four runs before finally reverting to the Santana that we know and love. Both Jose Reyes and David Wright continue to ride hot streaks, which we all know is possibly the biggest key to the Mets success in their recent years, and rookie sensation, Ike Davis blasted his eighth home run of the season which proved to be the turning point of the game. And of course this wouldn't be a true Mets game if there wasn't some late inning drama attached to it. I don't know why Frankie Rodriguez likes to be cutesy when he comes into a save situation, but giving up that two run monster blast to uber scrub - Shelly Duncan made my blood run cold ! But a win is a win and I must admit i'll take them anyway my team can get them. Extra thanks go out to both the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees for dispatching both the Phillies and the Braves for know we are just a half game out of first place !!!Oh and on another happy note, The Mets have released Garry Matthews Jr., essentially throwing him onto the scrap heap. Wish I could say I'm gonna miss you Garry, but I'd miss Chipper Jones before i'd miss you !                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       " It's not hard to beat this tribe !!"  And with that said..... HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!Celebrating Birthdays today:Reliever from the '72 team, Bob Rauch is 61 (1949) .One time highly touted Mets pitching prospect, Calvin Schiraldi is 48 today (1962) .If it wasn't for him we would have never been able to obtain Bobby Ojeda. And when you think about it , we possibly would never been able to beat the Red Sox in '86 if it wasn't for his infamous meltdown.Baltimore Orioles claimed reserve outfielder,Rich Becker of the New York Mets on waivers on June 16, 1998.New York Mets signed free agent Heath Bell on June 16, 1998. Oh if only we knew what this guy would turn into one of the better closers in the National League, we might have made it to the post season in '07 and "08.And Mo Vaughn got married in secret yesterday. His blushing bride was none other than .........                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Mimi Bobeck !!!!                                                                                                     Congratulations to the happily rotund couple !!
