In his daily S.I.com column that was published yesterday, John Heyman published a quote from our beloved G.M, Omar Minaya which I have found to be most troubling."St. Louis is always tough. If we can win two out of three, that will be outstanding. If we win one, I'll take it. We've got Jose back, and once we get Murphy and Beltran back, we can compete with everyone else.''
Setting our sights high arent we Omar? Right now forget about us Mets fans being ticked off by that statement, If I was either Jeff or Fred Wilpon right now I would be livid ! What was it that Jeff said this past off season? Oh yeah he said that the style of play that punctuated last season and the apathy that went along with it would not be tolerated. And with this quote from Omar ( and I am sure as hell sure that he was forced to memorize that statement by gunpoint
) it just goes to show that the words that comes out of ownerships mouth are to be taken with a grain of salt. I mean did Omar think he would be psyching up the player and the fan base with that statement? If he did he is more out of touch than I previously thought and should thusly be on just as short of leash as Jerry Manuel. But we know that Omar has another two years lefty on his contract , and we all know how the Mets are against eating bad contracts - see Castillio, Luis.
I still have hope for this team, but my intestinal fortitude is waning with each day that passes. Oh yeah great game from Ollie - to bad Manuel screwed the pooch by taking him out when he was still pitching well after 6 1/3 innings. To read John Heyman's column go to http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/jon_heyman/04/16/managers.hot.seat/index.html#ixzz0lLli7Cf4 You see Omar - Even Meatloaf knows that "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" !!!And with that off my chest.... HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!
