Well it took a better part of a year, but our beloved New York Mets finally won two straight games on the road- and the have secured their first road series win of the season ( took em long enough !!) The recently battered Hisanori Takahashi pitched a decent game , lasting well into the seventh inning while only giving up one run, and in effect saving his spot in the rotation from a rehabbing John Maine. The offense was barely there last night aside from homers by Jose Reyes and Jeff Francouer along with a run scoring on a botched double play, but a win is a win - even if it is against the cellar dwelling Baltimore Orioles. Remember kiddies, in order to have a winning record you must beat both the good and the bad teams - and Jeez are the orioles bad ! I admit it gave me pleasure to see Juan Samuel's squad look like a bunch of little leaguers !. I couldn't stand him when we traded Lenny Dykstra and Roger McDowell to get him, and I can't stand him now ! ( yes I hold grudges) ! Also that was a amazing double play turned by Ruben Tejada last night ! His defense is is major league ready, but I feel he should be sent back down for seasoning when Luis Castillo comes off the disabled list.Today Big Pelf goes for the sweep against hard luck pitcher , Kevin Millwood this afternoon at 1 p.m. So.. LETS GO METS !!!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       " The beast from the east !!"And with that said.... HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!New York Mets sold the contract of pitcher,Al Jackson to the Cincinnati Reds on June 13, 1969. It was a shame because Al was with the Mets from their inception, and it would have been awesome if he had made it to the World Series that year. But the Mets did bestow a ring and a World Series share for his contributions that season.New York Mets released relief pitcher,Mike Birkbeck on June 13, 1995.Mo Vaughn was in Camden Yards last night , and obviously there was not a crab cake to be found !!
