Well there are approximately thirteen more days until Opening Day and already there are doomsayers in our midst. Yes that's right kiddos Craig " Skevosa" Carton and Mike " I'm a genius of myself " Francesa both took a break from their March Madness analysis to rip the New York Mets. First of was Carton. Craig in my opinion was the pettier of the two condemning their " We Believe In Eight Inning Games " slogan that was published in yesterdays newspapers. He said it is an embarrassment to Mets fans. You know I realize that the Craig Carton that is on the air is more likely a persona , and Carton can't be this much of a douche when he is off the air ( or can he?) But look we Mets fans have always hated the Madison Avenue advertising hype that has been associated with this team - with the exception or the '86 slogan " Baseball Like It Outta Be!" that is . But it is once again Francesa who wins the award for being the snarkiest broadcaster,, when he was pretty much arm twisting Ed Coleman to admit that Daniel Murphy doesn't deserve to be the everyday first baseman, Mike Jacobs was mislead, the Mets pitching other than Johan is in shambles , the bullpen is not set, and my personal favorite - Ike Davis should be the starting first baseman come Opening Day. Well Mike it is fairly obvious that you haven't watched any of the Mets pre season games or read the papers because you would see that John Maine pitched well in his last outing, most of the runs that Mike Pelfrey gave up were due to wind aided homeruns, and Ollie has been better than   "just okay" as you have put it. But I still don't understand his obsession with putting Daniel Murphy down. If Murph was on his beloved Yankees , Mike would be doing Cartwheels (with Mark Malousis trying to spot him while not getting crushed at the same time). Mike would be applauding Murph's tenacity and his blue collar approach to baseball. Mike would try his best to make him a folk hero ala a Paui O'Neil or a Shelly Duncan, but no since he plays for the Mets he is a scrub and he can never ascend to a higher level of play. Mike your Yankee bias is showing - you better zip up you pants - oh wait your zipper is busted !                                                                                                                                                                      And with that said.... HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!!!!Happy Birthday wishes go out to one of the lesser remembered spot starter / relievers that the Mets has during the mid '90's Mike Remlinger. (1966)New York Mets traded prospect, Jonathan Guzman to the Kansas City Royals for outfielder, Shane Halter on March 23, 1999.New York Mets signed free agent utility infielder Fernando Tatis on March 23, 2007. Fernando spent the entire '07 season in AAA that season but he made the team on '08 & '09. He is currently trying to win the back up infielder job this spring. And don't forget - there are just 13 Roger Craig days until the Mets open the 2010 season against the Florida Marlins at Citi Field.
