Mets’ Holes in Offense are Statistically Glaring

metsops

I’ll keep the text light, because the stats speak for themselves. Below is a chart ranking the Mets offensive production by position (boiled down to OPS to keep it simple) compared to the rest of the National League. The NL Rank is obviously out of 16, and the order was set by the difference between …

TRDMB: Cora Signing Reactions

On November 30th, 2009, the Mets resigned Alex Cora to a 1-year $2million deal with a vesting option for a second year at the same price. I went back in the RDMB archives and dug up some our own reader and writer’s thoughts back on that day… “This move does not inspire much confidence for …

If I were GM…

This is everyone’s favorite game, especially when the Mets are sucking, which they are. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t feeling either frustrated or paranoid in relation to the Mets…must’ve been during the ’07 season. So here’s my take at the bare bones of “what I would do” if I had some control …

Post Game: The Evil Empire Strikes Back on Father’s Day

(this post brought to you by all the evil fathers in the world! Happy Father’s Day to all the non-evil ones.) The Yankees struck back after the Mets won the first game of this interleague series by taking the final two games, capped off by a 4-0 shut-out Sunday afternoon over their crosstown rivals. CC …

The World’s First Ike Davis Wallpaper

ikewp

The world has gone on long enough without an Ike Davis wallpaper (at least, I couldn’t find one on google). I have little-to-no experience making wallpapers, but here went nothin’! (size is 1024×768, click to enlarge)

UPDATE: Rain Out; Real Dirty Weather Update

Update: Tonight’s game has been rained out. A day-night doubleheaded will be played tomorrow at 1:10 and 7:10pm. Tickets for tonight’s game will be honored for tomorrow’s 7:10pm game. A warm front followed by a low pressure system are set to cross through New York tonight, and in this case that means lots of rain. …

Which Mets Pitchers Could Make the All-Star Game?

I’ve done a little research, and it seems as if generally 8-10 starting pitcher make each year’s all-star game and 4-6 relievers (generally closers) make the team as well. As far as I can tell, the Mets would have 3 possible candidates – Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, and Francisco Rodriguez. Unfortunately it’s not as easy …

More Roster News: GMJ DFA’d, Return of Omir

Update: According to ESPN’s Adam Rubin, the Omir Santos call-up is likely temporary, and Omar Minaya has promised to soon call up Jesus Feliciano to be the new backup outfielder. In addition to the roster move of placing Castillo on the 15-day DL and recalling Tejada as his replacement… Gary Matthews Jr has finally been …

Weather Update: Delay Likely

Update (7:10pm): The delay is pretty much official. My best guess: 60-90 minutes. I still think this game’s being played though! Only issue is that the Mets have to travel to Milwaukee tonight/tomorrow. Hey folks! As you can see below, there are storms approaching the city from the northwest. They should hit between 7 and …
